Nach einer strengen Erkältung bin ich mit Vera ins Tessin gefahren zum Kuren. Einen tollen Bouldernachmittag verbrachten wir in Chironico, wir haben sogar zwei Risskletter Boulders gefunden!
Am nächsten Tag fuhren wir ins Onsernone Tal. Der Zustieg zum Pizzo della Croce ist, Zitat Topo: „angenehm, aber nicht einfach“. Tatsächlich war der Zustieg ziemlich beschissen, wegen dem vielen Laub sehr rutschig und schwer zu finden, zuoberst im Schnee. Die Route Evviva gli spit! ist komplett selber abzusichern. Lediglich etwa fünf Schlaghaken gibts in der 3. Seillänge. Die ersten zwei Längen (6c und 7a) sind fantastische, teilweise überhängende Handrisse. Die 3. Seillänge ist höchst anspruchsvoll. Die Linie ist schwierig zu finden und es warten ein paar technische Passagen. Wahrscheinlich habe ich am Schluss dieser Länge noch eine schwierigere Variante angehängt: Ein 10m Quergang an einer Untergriffschuppe. Schwer abzusichern und mit beängstigendem Sturzpotential. Ziemlich tricky. Das Abseilen über eine andere Route ist lustig und sehr überhängend. Die Route ist mir Onsight gelungen,im Gegensatz zum Zustieg…

i went two days ago.
we were too slow on the approach and this didn’t let us finish the route but had a great day anyway.
we discovered a couple of things that could be interesting for repeaters, i don’t know another place to write them so i write them here…
-from the third belay station you can rappel directly to the base.
-the original line for the fourth pitch (traverse left then dihedral) looks much easier and less scary than the right-hand flared crack you followed…unfortunately the dihedral is really dirty, the crack is full of grass for at least 6-7 meters and you need to clean it to place gear. For anybody planning to follow this line, some metal tool for cleaning (nut tool?) is essential and one #4 camalot very helpful. I had left both at the belay and basically lost a lot of time fighting with the dirt and the grass before deciding to retreat.

Wir haben uns in Berzona, Val Onsernone beim Parkplatz getroffen. Wir vier Urner stiegen zur „Dimitri“ hoch, ihr wolltet am Pizzo della Croce eine „cleane“ Route klettern. Wie ich nun per Zufall entdeckt habe, ist es Euch an diesem Tag optimal gelaufen. Gratulation! Der Zustieg war auch bei uns eher mühsam, obwohl wir glücklicherweise keinen Schnee mehr fanden. Die Route „Dimitri“ selber fanden wir genial, Bilder dazu findest Du unter meiner Website. Ich wünsche Euch weiterhin viele tolle Touren. Vielleicht trifft man sich wieder einmal…

The Approach takes around 2h and it`s tricky to find. There is a description in the Alpine Club Guidebook. There is only in one place snow, but it`s good to have good shoes.

For the Route you need double rack from the tricams to Camalot #2 and some nuts.
the first 2 pitches are obvious, the third pitch is tricky: follow to the end of the dirty handcrack above the belay. Then traverse right and go up to a bushy ledge(7m from belay) clip the piton (scary) and traverse right in the crack/dihedral. from the Piton in the dihedral make a stemming move right. another 5m over a little overhang brings you to the begin of a right traversing crack (30m, 2 Pitons and tricam placement for OK belay). I think that the original line goes left here (6b pitch). I followed the right traversing Crack on the slab with very tricky and scary undercling moves on smeary footholds (there was a 0.75 Camalot Placement after 3-4m, an old Piton in situ but carabiners can`t be clipped. Maybe 6b-6c, bad fall for the follower!

Is it tricky to get to the wall or obvious?
How much snow?
